Did you know chiropractic care is a great preventative treatment of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the process which creates stress that damages cells throughout our body and results in signs of aging and disease.
Research backs chiropractic care as an effective method to improving health and enhancing quality of life. A study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research shows how chiropractic adjustments can benefit the chemistry of biological processes on a cellular level. The study found that “chiropractic care could influence basic physiological processes affecting oxidative stress and DNA repair.”
The study was conducted on 25 women who received short term chiropractic care and 21 women who received long term chiropractic care. Results were compared to 30 women who didn’t receive chiropractic care.
Here’s what they found:
- Women who received long-term chiropractic care showed a normal physiological state independent of age, sex or nutritional supplements.
- Women who received short-term chiropractic care showed higher mean serum thiol (primary antioxidants) levels than women with a disease.
- Women who received short-term chiropractic care showed some values that were higher than normal wellness than those who didn’t receive chiropractic care.
Chiropractic adjustments correct obstructions of nerve function caused by misalignments or subluxations. Therefore, chiropractic care can improve the ability of the body to battle stress.
