What Causes Chronic Pain

It’s difficult to consider a single condition as the cause behind chronic pain.  Often, long-lasting illnesses or injuries can play a role in triggering chronic pain. Other times, it may be due to various psychological factors. Individuals who have undergone surgery, had an injury, or are obese, are relatively at a higher risk of developing chronic pain than healthy individuals. As per statistics, at least 25% of Americans suffer from chronic pain. It’s more common than we imagine it to be. The pain sensations are different for everyone; some may experience normal aching, whereas others may go through throbbing, stinging, stiffness, or burning. It varies in every individual and is usually related to the underlying cause. Diagnosis is based on certain questions that are determined by the health care practitioner.

How To Treat Chronic Pain

There are multiple ways to deal with a condition depending upon the patient’s preference.   Recently, people have become inclined towards a new treatment method; chiropractic techniques. Some people are hesitant about trying this treatment method as they are skeptical and doubt its effectiveness. However, according to studies, around 32% of individuals, under chiropractic care, report progress with chronic pain. The main focus is on the bigger picture; how does it help with chronic pain in the long run? Let’s break it down for you.

Chiropractic care consists of techniques, including spinal manipulation and therapeutic exercises. The chiropractor will form a treatment plan based on the diagnosis.  Like any other treatment plan, one cannot expect results almost immediately. Consistency is the key. Chiropractic methods have started to gain popularity as more and more people become aware of the benefits, as all musculoskeletal-related conditions show a positive response.
