Pediatric Chiropractic

Gentle, low-force chiropractic care for children and teenagers in the Conejo Valley — focused on posture, movement, and the spine, with no cracking, twisting, or force a parent would worry about.

Who this is for

  • Teens with 'text neck,' upper-back tightness, or forward-head posture from screens and backpacks
  • Kids with stiffness or discomfort after a fall, a growth spurt, or a long sit
  • Young athletes with sports- or play-related joint and muscle complaints
  • Parents who want a gentle, no-pressure evaluation before anything is done

How it works

When does a child or teen need a chiropractor?

Answer first: chiropractic care for children is for neuromusculoskeletal complaints — the spine, joints, muscles, nerves, and posture. We do not treat childhood illness, and I’ll say so plainly. What we help with falls into a few honest categories:

  • Posture and “text neck” in teens. The most common reason a teenager ends up in our office — years of looking down at a screen load the neck in a way it was never built for, showing up as upper-back tightness, headaches, and a visible forward-head posture.
  • Backpack strain and uneven loading. Heavy, lopsided backpacks pull a growing spine off balance. We can measure it and show you exactly what it’s doing.
  • Sports and play injuries. Falls, tweaks, and overuse from the busy Conejo Valley sports schedule.
  • Movement, stiffness, and discomfort after a fall, a long sit, or a growth spurt.

If a child has a posture pattern worth correcting, that’s the same thinking behind my posture correction work, scaled down and made gentle.

How is pediatric chiropractic different from adult care?

The principle is the same; the hands are different. For kids we use low-force, gentle techniques — light, specific contacts, mobilization, and soft-tissue work rather than the high-velocity adjustment most adults picture. The pressure is often no more than what you’d use to check a ripe piece of fruit. No twisting a child’s neck, no dropping body weight into a thrust.

Care starts with measurement, not assumptions. We check posture, movement, and range of motion. With teens I’ll often use digital posture analysis so we can both see the forward-head, rounded-shoulder pattern screen time creates — and re-measure later to know whether it’s improving. I only take X-rays for a child when there’s a clear clinical reason; never routinely. Then we do the least that works — for many kids that’s a handful of gentle visits and some simple posture homework.

What happens at the first visit?

You and your child sit down with me — not an assistant. We talk through history, sports, screen habits, and how they’re moving. We do a gentle, age-appropriate exam: posture, movement, range of motion, and orthopedic checks, usually with digital posture analysis for teens. You leave with a written, plain-English plan: what I found, whether we can help, roughly how long it should take, and what it costs — before any care begins. Parents are welcome in the room the entire visit, every time.

Is chiropractic safe for children?

Done correctly and within scope, gentle pediatric chiropractic is well tolerated. The force we use on a child is a tiny fraction of an adult adjustment, and we screen carefully first. The honest boundary: chiropractic care is for neuromusculoskeletal problems — spine, joints, muscles, nerves, and posture. That is the lane we work in, and we work in it alongside your pediatrician rather than instead of them. If your child has a medical concern outside it, your pediatrician is the right call, and we’ll refer when that’s the responsible thing to do.

Benefits

Gentle, low-force technique

Light contacts, mobilization, and soft-tissue work sized to a developing spine — no high-velocity thrust, twisting, or 'pop.'

Measure before we treat

Posture, movement, and range-of-motion checks (digital posture analysis for teens) so care is based on what's actually happening, not a guess.

Honest scope, with referral

Strictly spine, joints, muscles, nerves, and posture. Anything outside that, we refer to your pediatrician.

The least that works

Often a handful of gentle visits plus simple home posture homework. I'd rather a child graduate from care than keep coming back.

Frequently asked questions

At what age can a child see a chiropractor?

There’s no strict cutoff — I’ve cared for kids across a wide range of ages. What changes with age is the technique, not the principle: the younger the child, the gentler and lighter the contact. I evaluate every child individually and only do what their body actually needs.

Will you crack or twist my child's neck?

No. For children we use low-force, gentle techniques — light contacts, mobilization, and soft-tissue work — not the high-velocity adjustment adults picture. There’s no forceful twisting and usually no “pop” at all.

Can you fix my teenager's 'text neck' and slouching posture?

Often, yes — and it’s one of the most common reasons teens come in. We measure the forward-head pattern with digital posture analysis, work to correct it with gentle care, and give simple homework to change the habits driving it. It closely overlaps our posture correction work. I’ll always tell you honestly how much we expect to change and how long it should take.

Is chiropractic care safe for kids?

Done gently and within scope, it’s well tolerated — the force we use on a child is a small fraction of an adult adjustment, and we screen carefully first. Our focus with children is neuromusculoskeletal and postural — the spine, joints, and how a growing body moves and loads. We work alongside your pediatrician, and we’ll refer when that’s the right move.
