First, safety. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is widely considered safe for healthy pregnancies, and we treat it with the caution it deserves. At your first visit we talk through your pregnancy, how far along you are, anything your OB or midwife has flagged, and exactly where it hurts. If anything in your history calls for clearance from your prenatal provider first, we’ll tell you — I’d rather coordinate than guess.
The exam is gentle and pregnancy-appropriate. we assess how your pelvis and low back are moving, where the muscles are pulling, and what’s actually generating your pain. We do not take X-rays during pregnancy. The whole point of measuring is to treat precisely and lightly, not to do more than your body needs right now.
The adjustments are modified for you. Side-lying positions, pregnancy pillows, drop-table or instrument-assisted methods, and lower forces than a non-pregnant patient would get. Many expecting moms also get targeted soft-tissue work for the hips and low back, which is often where the day-to-day ache lives. You stay in control — if a position isn’t comfortable, we change it.
Care adapts as you do. What feels good at 20 weeks is different at 36 weeks. We adjust positioning and frequency as your pregnancy progresses, and I’ll always tell you honestly whether continuing care still makes sense for how you’re feeling.
To be clear about scope: prenatal chiropractic care is for the musculoskeletal aches of pregnancy — the back, hips, and pelvis. It is not a treatment for pregnancy complications, and it does not replace your OB or midwife. We work alongside your prenatal team, not instead of it.
The shift in your center of gravity, the loosening of ligaments from relaxin, and the extra load all change how your pelvis and low back carry weight. Gentle adjustments take pressure off the joints that are doing the complaining.
You're never asked to lie flat on your stomach. We use pregnancy pillows, side-lying positions, and adjustable tables so you're comfortable and well-supported the whole visit.
Pregnancy isn't the time for the most aggressive adjustment. I dial the force down — often using gentle, instrument-assisted, or low-amplitude methods — and check in with you the entire time.
Most expecting moms want to avoid medication where they reasonably can. Chiropractic addresses the joint and muscle mechanics directly, so you have a non-drug option for everyday aches.
Simple positioning tips, stretches, and movement advice for sleep, sitting, and getting in and out of the car — the moments pregnancy makes surprisingly hard.
For a healthy pregnancy, gentle chiropractic care is widely considered safe, and it’s a common drug-free option for back and pelvic pain. I adapt everything — positioning, force, and technique — for pregnancy, and I never take X-rays while you’re expecting. If anything in your history suggests we should get clearance from your OB or midwife first, I’ll say so before we begin.
Yes — pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain is one of the most common reasons expecting moms in Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village come in. As your belly grows, your center of gravity shifts and the ligaments around your pelvis loosen, which changes how your low back and SI joints carry load. Gentle adjustments and soft-tissue work take pressure off those joints. Read more on our back pain page, or schedule a first visit.
What we can tell you is that we use gentle, pregnancy-modified adjustments focused on balancing the pelvis and easing the muscle and joint tension that drives most pregnancy back pain. If Webster technique specifically matters to you, call the office at (805) 496-4469 before you book and we’ll make sure it’s the right fit.

No. We do not take X-rays while you’re pregnant. The exam relies on movement, orthopedic, and hands-on assessment instead, which is plenty to treat your aches safely and precisely.
